Jeff Bentzler Senior Mechanical Designer Background: As a child, Jeff always had an eye for design and a passion for figuring out how things worked. After graduating from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Jeff moved to California and worked as a Senior Industrial Designer for Roundthree before joining the Karten Design team 12 years ago. Utilizing his 19 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, and designing concepts, Jeff facilitates a project’s seamless transition across the entire spectrum of the design process—from research to design to engineering—working to ensure the client’s needs are met along every step of the way. Jeff is strongly committed to establishing long-term relationships with clients. He has designed and engineered a diverse array of award-winning products, from ergonomic kitchen gadgets to office furniture to complex clinical and lab diagnostic equipment. Passion: Jeff’s passion lies in finding an equal balance between aesthetic and mechanical innovation. He enjoys the challenge of creating new construction strategies and designing meaningful interfaces between products and their users. Rick Blanchard Managing Director Background: As a child Rick was always building things, taking things apart and making scale models. Naturally, he excelled in technical and precise mechanical drawing classes in high school, which led him to believe he had a talent for design. Passion: Rick has the unique ability to approach a problem with both deep examination and gut-level intuition. A natural problem solver with a keen eye for details, Rick enjoys the process of making internal and project-related decisions at Karten Design. As Managing Director, he draws on his management experience in both consultant and corporate environments to ensure daily challenges are resolved and organizational leadership tasks are executed smoothly. Paul Cash 3D Designer Background Cash’s passion for working with his hands began while working in the film industry creating special effects for movies and TV commercials. Here he learned everything from airbrushing to creating molds and movie set props. He has an affinity for creative, hands-on work where he can see the fruits of his labor quickly come to life.
